i just bought this kettle at the local target and so far i really like it. i spent a bit more money on a new kettle than i originally intended because i wanted to see what i was buying firsthand.my old stainless steel kettle (a cheaper one i bought at target a few years ago, not sure what brand, maybe copco or kitchenaid) had started to show rust along the inside bottom seal. i wanted a new kettle that did not have such a seal, and this one doesn't. it's made of a single piece of metal (except for the lid and spout of course). this was the #1 consideration for me, and i thought i would share this fact in case that's important for anyone buying online.overall it seems well designed, which i've found pretty typical for calphalon products. the lid seals tight but can be removed easily with a large enough lid handle that you can do so holding on to the kettle handle without touching any metal (if you want to remove the lid while the kettle is still hot). the spout lever sits conveniently at the inside apex of the handle, right where you would pick it up. the large, looping kettle handle was nowhere near too hot to touch after boiling and is out of the way enough to easily reach inside for cleaning. and the whistle works as you'd expect a kettle whistle to.so while it's still brand new and i haven't used it much yet, i would recommend this kettle. if i notice any problems as i use it more i'll update my review.

I purchased the "Calphalon Stainless Steel 2-Quart Tea Kettle" in December, after spending a bit of time researching different products. I am very happy with my purchase! So much so that I actually felt like writing a review! I have used it pretty much everyday since New Years, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. The handle has never gotten hot, the whistle is great for me in our 1,000sq ft apt. The only time I did not hear it was while drying my hair...obviously. The lid fits tightly and I never feel any steam escaping... I can pop it off with one finger while holder the kettle. I like having the full handle vs. ones that are flat or not a complete handle, if that makes sense. I have a gas stove and would use it on the larger burner which I think some discoloration on the sides. However, I just switched it to a smaller burner when on the higher temp. I have left a little water in it a couple times over night, and in general there has been absolutely no rusting. It's a very nice looking kettle and we always get compliments on it! I keep in on the stove simply as decor while not in use. Highly, highly suggest this tea kettle!!

This is a whistling tea kettle? Stand close to stove or you'll miss it! Also when it does boil steam comes through the "tightly fitted lid" keep looking, believe me it's not easy and it should be so simple.
