What a slick little cooker this is! I'm vegetarian so I won't be cooking crispy fish, as shown by the manufacturer. However I've already found this makes moist and delicious veggies, cooked (perhaps with a tiny bit of water or broth) to perfection in just a couple of minutes in the microwave. I haven't yet tried it in the regular oven. In the meantime, I'm ordering a second steamer so that my spouse and I can each have a separate Lekue, for cooking whatever we want, then taking directly to the table as a bowl then back to fridge with leftovers, if need be---noodles and veggies, corn on the cob, asparagus, green beans etc. I must also say that this is such an appealing object I just love looking at it! it makes me smile. It's tactile and soft yet resilient and appears to me like a little piece of curvy art, whether open or in the "latched" position with one edge tucked into the little slot. We will be taking the two steam roasters "on the road"---there simply is NOTHING better for trailer or RV travel than silicone. It cooks healthy food, it can't break while traveling and it doesn't take up much storage space, plus it's versatile for cooking to serving and cuts down on the number of pans / dishes needed for an RV. I love it!

It's a neat idea -- but a little flimsy / floppy when in bowl mode.It's a snap for microwave steaming veggies and the like. Haven't baked in it, but I look forward to that experiment!The handle is REALLY hot after microwaving -- this is to be expected with all microwave steamers, you'll want to wait a while or use a potholder for removal.Has a unique and interesting shape / design. I would definitely buy another Lekue product.

So what is a steam roaster, I hear you wondering?I bought it on a whim some time ago, and I never really used as I already had the steam case. Then the oven broke and the repairman is taking ages, so I am experimenting a lot more with the microwave. I have only got my first microwave one year ago, and I am not really used to it yet, but now I am forced to try new recipes, and here's where the steam roaster comes in really handy.You can mix, season and cook your food all in the same container, isn't that wonderful? If you cook in the microwave, obviously, your food will not turn out as crispy, but it won't be limp either. I tried to make roast potatoes, with some onions and a little oil and herbs and they were supertasty and nice; then I took them out of the roaster and cooked salmon fillet, directly from frozen and it was really good too. All of this only took about 15 minutes, isn't that brilliant?I have seen a couple of Japanese cooks making wonderful crispy fish and meat in the steam roaster, and they even published a recipe book, which I am trying to get hold of. Even if they use the microwave for cooking, the fish and veggies are nice and crispy, I am amazed.
