Great fast little knife

This knife came out of the box razor sharp. It's a thin blade so it makes very precise cuts. My only issue is that it loses its edge kind of quickly compared to a harder heavier knife. But it's great quality for the price I would compare it with knives in the $100-200 range.

The value choice in Japanese knives

A real workhorse. Macs consistently gets high ratings in national magazines because they offer great knives at a good price. Once people own a Mac knife they tell their friends and Mac has benefited greatly from word of mouth buzz. If you are looking to build a collection of high quality knives at a good price these are the ticket. They do not perform as well as the a few big names (like Masahiro and Misono). The MAC chef series features the same Molybdenum alloy as the original series and offers you an especially good value. The knives have sturdy riveted handles and are thin and relatively hard for holding a good edge. This is a great introduction to Japanese knives and you will be surprised and very pleased if you have been using thicker, softer steel knives like many German brands (such as Wusthof) when you see how well these cut.
